How to choose your pomegranate?

Best shape to pick is slightly squarish. The color should be bright or dark red. Note that the darker the red the sweeter the pomegranate :-) Very important aspect to take in count as well is the crown of the pomegranate: if its petals are turned inwards, your pomegranate is ready to be eaten. Finally, you can check your fruit by simply touching it; if it feels smooth and tight, that pomegranate should go home with you. If it feels that the skin might have ripples, it is already way too ripe. Also, if you scratch the pomegrante’s skin, if nothing comes on under your finger nail, the fruit is ready to be consumed.


How to conserve the pomegranate?

This fruit is very easy to conserve. Indeed, simply wrapped loosely in a little bit of beeswaxwarp, it stays on your counter top or in the fridge up to a week. Also if you decide to peel it, seeds can be kepts in a container in the fridge up to 8 or 9 days. You can also freeze your pomegrante seeds and keep them up to a year in your refrigerator.


Recipe: How to make your own power juice: POMEGRANATE

In order to easily peel your pomegranate, make sure you cut it into 5. After washing it, drying it and cutting the crown off, slice your pomegranate into 5 pieces. Then, you pull out gently the external peel and with your fingers push the pomegranate seeds into a bowl.


Now the juice.

In a classic blender, add 2 cups of pomegranate freshly peeled seeds. Pulse for 5-10 seconds, just until the juice starts separating from the seed. Then using a strainer, separated the juice. With a wooden spoon, keep on separating by pushing the seeds down.

Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of carbonated water to your freshly separated juice.

Mix well and enjoy!
