In some countries such as Italy and Hungary, it is a tradition to start the year by eating a lentil dish. Every country adapts it to its own taste and spices, and so can you! F4A has put together for you lentils, some spices and some vegetables that could be found stocked in the fridge and cupboards. Try this fulfilling, delicious recipe F4A has created or simply adapt it to any type of lentils, spices and vegetables you find at home! Start your year right: with a stomach full of yummy lucky food! :)


  • 1 onion

  • 1 garlic clove

  • 220 grams of lentils (in our case we used pink)

  • 3 colorful carrots

  • about 15-20 pink F4A shrimps + another 2 cloves of garlic for them

  • 150 grams of tomato concentrate

  • 150ml coconut milk

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder

  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 1 teaspoon crushed chillis

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Parsley or Cilantro for the dressing


Start by mincing onion and garlic cloves.

In a frying pan, add the olive oil, the onion and garlic clove minced.

When onion and garlic become slightly transparent while cooking, add the lentils, the tomato concentrate, the coconut milk and all the spices except from the salt and the pepper. Stir, then slowly add the carrots chopped in cubes, and about 500ml of water, depending on what kind of lentils you are cooking.

Leave to cook for about half an hour, while continuously stirring.

On the side, peel the pink shrimps.

In another frying pan leave some olive oil with the last two garlic cloves minced.

Add the shrimps, leave to cook approximatively 3minutes on each side.

In the same time check your lentils and taste. If they are soft enough to eat, you are ready to eat! Season with salt and pepper adapted to your taste.

Serve with parsley or cilantro on top and enjoy the magic!
